INDEPENDENT STUDY
Fiction and Non-Fiction Literature
Students will choose two novels - one fiction and one non-fiction - to read and do independent projects on. The projects will centre on the creation of a website to showcase details about each novel, their authors, key characters, plot, etc.
Process
* Bring your book each day as most classes will begin with 15 minutes of reading.
* Students MAY and are encouraged to read the same book as other students to form a book talk group
* Each student will conference with the teacher at least once during the reading of each book.
* Considering your book and your own time constraints, plan an appropriate reading schedule.
* If you forget your book you will be expected to work on your culminating product.
* Students will present elements of their reading.
Evaluation
This assignment encompasses a wide variety of skills and expectations required in the Grade 10 curriculum. The project will be evaluated as indicated on the rubric provided.
